non-binding estimates, since the charges to be paid at the time of
delivery are based on the actual certified weight of the shipment. This
helps to protect the interests of both the shipper and the home mover.
If you get a non-binding
estimate, you cannot be asked to pay more than 110% of the estimated
amount at the time of delivery. If any additional amount is due, the mover
will have to raise an invoice for it and give you at least 30 days to pay
it.
If you want to be sure about
the amount you will have to pay, you can opt for a binding estimate.
However, this may turn out to be a little more expensive, because moving
services tend to add on a margin while providing binding estimates, to
protect themselves from variances from the estimated amount.
